FundsAtWork responsible governance
Independent oversight that protects members’ interests
The trustees of the FundsAtWork Umbrella Pension and Provident Funds take all reasonable steps to protect the interests of members at all times. They are guided by strong retirement fund governance principles, relevant legislation and the rules.
The trustees act impartially, with care, diligence and in good faith. They bring extensive knowledge and experience to the Funds' oversight. At least half of the board consists of independent trustees with no relationship to Momentum, ensuring objective decision‑making and rigorous, responsible governance.

Legal and Compliance
Staying compliant to protect members’ interests
The trustees ensure that the interests of members, as outlined in the Fund’s rules and the provisions of the Pension Funds Act, are protected at all times.
They keep all stakeholders informed of legislative changes and regulatory requirements. Members, employers and financial advisers can access the latest updates and resources in the Funds' resource centre.
Regulatory bodies
We adhere to the guidelines of several institutions and bodies that exist to oversee all aspects of the employee benefits industry in South Africa. The main ones are:
Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA)
The FSCA is the market conduct regulator of financial institutions that provide financial products and financial services, financial institutions that are licensed in terms of a financial sector law, including banks, insurers, retirement funds and administrators, and market infrastructures.
